Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber Foundation

Georgia Hernandez is a mission-driven nonprofit leader whose career reflects an extraordinary trajectory of professional growth and dedication to advancing equity in Central Texas. She began at El Buen Samaritano (El Buen) as a frontline staff member, intentionally immersing herself in programs to understand community needs gaining first-hand knowledge that now informs and strengthens the organization’s funding strategies and philanthropic growth. Today, she serves in an executive leadership role as Director of Grants and Contracts, where she stewards a multi-million-dollar budget that sustains El Buen’s five pillars of work—food access, rental assistance, youth and adult education, workforce development, and health access. Georgia has played a pivotal role in El Buen’s innovation efforts, co-designing programs that strengthen economic and academic mobility, including workforce pathways into healthcare careers and initiatives that expand access to mental health services.
Beyond her leadership at El Buen, Georgia is deeply engaged in the Austin community. As a Leadership Austin Emerge-17 graduate, she serves on the Boards of the Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Ann Richards School Foundation and volunteers with Todos Juntos Learning Center and the Girl Empowerment Network. A first-generation Latina and proud District 2 (Dove Springs) Austinite, Georgia embodies strategic, equity-centered, and rooted in authentic community ties working to advance the future of all Central Texans ensuring they belong, thrive, and have pathways to opportunity.
